The Connecticut Airport Authority announced that Spirit Airlines has launched a new daily route from Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut to Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) in Michigan. The inaugural flight departed from Bradley this morning, marking the start of daily service between the two cities.
Michael W. Shea, Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority, expressed appreciation for the partnership with Spirit Airlines. “The daily service to Detroit will give passengers more travel options at affordable fares,” Shea said, highlighting Spirit’s ongoing commitment to the Hartford region.
In addition to the Detroit route, Spirit will begin nonstop flights from Bradley to Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Tennessee starting this August. Both new destinations will provide passengers with convenient connections to other cities within Spirit’s extensive route network.
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, said, “We’re excited to add the Motor City to our Bradley (BDL) route map and offer great value for our guests looking to visit Detroit. This new route also makes it easier for travelers to reach Connecticut’s capital city and experience Spirit’s elevated guest services.”
Spirit already operates nonstop flights from Bradley to Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FLL), and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR), expanding travel choices for passengers in the region.
To mark the launch of the Detroit service, passengers on the inaugural flight were treated to a special celebratory send-off before departure.
