Royal Brunei Airlines is set to enhance passenger experience by introducing reliable, multi-orbit internet connectivity on its Airbus A320 aircraft, enabling fast and dependable in-flight internet access comparable to home Wi-Fi, regardless of flight location or time.
Mike DeMarco, Chief Commercial Officer of Intelsat, expressed pride in being chosen by Royal Brunei to deliver this cutting-edge connectivity solution. “Royal Brunei’s passengers will soon benefit from reliable, multi-orbit connectivity that will provide the same fast and dependable internet access they enjoy at home no matter where or when they fly,” he said.
Royal Brunei serves scheduled routes across Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Starting in the fourth quarter of 2025, Intelsat will begin installing the new multi-orbit system on Royal Brunei’s A320 aircraft. The system includes a state-of-the-art electronically steered array (ESA) antenna—compact at less than seven centimeters tall—designed for exceptional reliability by seamlessly connecting to both Intelsat’s geostationary (GEO) and low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
Captain Sabirin Haji Abdul Hamid, Royal Brunei’s CEO, highlighted the significance of this upgrade: “We’re excited to bring this next generation of connectivity to our Airbus A320neo fleet, ensuring our guests stay seamlessly connected wherever their journeys take them. This technology not only sets a new standard for in-flight internet but also reflects our commitment to innovation and delivering an exceptional experience for travelers across the region.”
He added, “Staying connected in the air is a necessity, and we’re proud to partner with Intelsat in delivering this next-level experience to our travelers across the Asia-Pacific region.”
