STARLUX, Etihad Ink Codeshare Deal to Boost Global Reach

Taipei-based STARLUX Airlines has entered into a strategic codeshare agreement with Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways, strengthening their global connectivity and paving the way for enhanced travel options between Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The announcement was made during the 81st International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi.

The partnership represents a significant milestone in STARLUX’s global expansion, offering passengers seamless access to Europe through Etihad’s hub in Abu Dhabi. STARLUX travelers will be able to book codeshare flights operated by Etihad Airways via the STARLUX website and official sales channels. This will allow passengers to fly from Taipei to European cities such as Prague, Madrid, and Barcelona with a single ticket and coordinated itineraries.

In return, Etihad customers will gain easy access to STARLUX’s growing Asia-Pacific network, connecting through Taipei to Japanese cities like Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka. The agreement simplifies travel logistics through single bookings, unified check-in processes, and automatic baggage transfers across connecting flights.

Both airlines have committed to launching joint sales and marketing campaigns in Taiwan, and a reciprocal frequent flyer program is expected to roll out by the end of the year, enhancing benefits for loyal travelers.

“This partnership with Etihad Airways marks a significant milestone in STARLUX Airlines’ global expansion, laying the foundation for future European routes,” said Simon Liu, Chief Strategy Officer at STARLUX Airlines. “Etihad’s reputation for innovation and premium service complements our brand perfectly. Through Abu Dhabi’s strategic location, we’re rapidly extending our reach into Europe, offering passengers more choice and convenience.”

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, echoed the sentiment, stating, “This partnership opens new market opportunities in Northeast Asia. Our collaboration with STARLUX allows customers enhanced access to key business and leisure destinations in Japan and beyond. The shared commitment to premium service ensures a high-quality experience for travelers across both networks.”

STARLUX Airlines currently operates 32 routes across 27 destinations, with a stronghold in Asia and a growing transpacific presence. The airline recently expanded its U.S. operations with the launch of four weekly flights to Ontario, California, on June 2. Looking ahead, STARLUX plans to add Phoenix as its fifth U.S. destination in February 2026.

The newly signed codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways marks a pivotal step in STARLUX’s international growth strategy, enhancing global connectivity and offering passengers a seamless, high-end travel experience across three continents.
