Brussels Airlines is preparing for a busy summer season in 2025, expecting nearly two million passengers to travel during July and August. To meet this surge, the airline is significantly increasing its operational capacity with fleet expansion and strategic workforce growth.
Fleet Expansion and Workforce Growth
Compared to summer 2024, Brussels Airlines has added six more aircraft to its fleet for 2025, raising the total to 50. This includes an extra Airbus A320 for short- and medium-haul routes, an additional Airbus A330 for long-haul operations, and four Airbus A220 jets leased from Air Baltic to support seasonal demand.
Alongside its fleet growth, the airline has hired 47 summer interns who have undergone the same training as regular cabin crew and are now integrated into front-line teams. Since the start of 2025, Brussels Airlines has recruited 300 new employees, including cabin crew, pilots, and ground staff, demonstrating broad expansion aligned with operational needs. This hiring wave strengthens the airline’s reputation as one of Belgium’s top employers.
Popular Summer Destinations
Spain remains the top summer destination for Belgian travelers, with Brussels Airlines offering flights to over a dozen Spanish cities such as Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, and Alicante. Greece and Italy also feature prominently, with the airline serving nine destinations in each country.
On long-haul routes, New York City and Kinshasa are the most popular destinations, attracting holidaymakers and business travelers alike.
Enhanced Travel Experience for Passengers
To ensure a smooth travel experience during the busy season, Brussels Airlines has doubled the capacity of its self-service bag drop area at Brussels Airport’s departures terminal. This upgrade allows passengers who check in online to drop off luggage more quickly, reducing wait times.
The airline also encourages passengers to:
- Arrive early to manage security and boarding smoothly during peak crowds
- Check in cabin bags for free to speed boarding and ease carry-on restrictions
- Stay updated on flight status through the official app or airport monitors
- Verify travel documents and visa requirements well before departure
Despite these measures, passengers are advised to remain aware of potential disruptions, such as national strikes, and follow airline advisories for the latest information.
With expanded resources and helpful tips, Brussels Airlines is committed to delivering a comfortable and efficient summer travel season in 2025.
