Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines has confirmed a firm order for 10 additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, increasing its total commitment to 18 A350-1000s. This latest purchase complements the carrier’s existing fleet of 10 A350-900s and reinforces its all-Airbus lineup.
The agreement was finalized at the Paris Airshow by STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai and Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry. The new aircraft are expected to join STARLUX’s fleet starting in 2031, following the delivery of the initial eight A350-1000s from the airline’s earlier order, which began this year amid potential manufacturer delays.
Currently, STARLUX operates a fleet of 28 Airbus aircraft, including the A350-900, A330neo, and A321neo. With this new order, the airline’s total outstanding orders now reach 30 aircraft, including additional A321neos and A350 freighters.
“Expanding our international fleet with the A350-1000s is a key move to strengthen our global presence and improve connectivity across vital markets,” Chai stated. “This aircraft’s efficiency, range, and passenger comfort align perfectly with our long-haul strategy. It will be instrumental in supporting our growth, sustainability goals, and operational flexibility.”
The Airbus A350 family remains popular worldwide, boasting over 1,390 orders from 60 customers and more than 650 aircraft currently in operation with 38 airlines, mainly on long-haul routes.
Taiwanese carriers EVA Air and China Airlines have also invested heavily in the A350-1000 variant. EVA Air holds firm orders for 24 A350-1000s with deliveries starting in 2026, while China Airlines has committed to 10 units scheduled from 2029.
