Airbus Tests Biomimetic Wing on Citation Jet

by jingji20

Airbus’s innovation division, UpNext, has begun installing its revolutionary “eXtra Performance Wing” on a modified Cessna Citation VII business jet. The experimental wing design, inspired by biomimicry, aims to dramatically improve aerodynamic efficiency through adaptive flight surfaces.

Breakthrough Wing Technology Takes Shape

The scaled-down prototype, currently being assembled at Cazaux airbase near Bordeaux, represents a crucial step in developing the full-scale 50-meter wing concept. Airbus engineers are implementing dynamically-adjusting control surfaces that automatically respond to turbulence, along with innovative hinged wingtips designed to reduce loads in flight and simplify ground operations.
