Volaris Costa Rica, the ultra-low-cost carrier, is accelerating its growth in key North American markets by launching three direct flights from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José. The new routes will connect Costa Rica’s capital to Miami (MIA) and Orlando (MCO) in Florida, as well as the newly opened Tulum International Airport (TQO) in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
These routes aim to enhance connectivity between Costa Rica and popular destinations, offering travelers competitive fares to support both tourism and business travel. Volaris will operate the flights using its modern Airbus A320neo fleet, known for efficiency and passenger comfort.
Launch Schedule and Flight Details:
- Orlando (MCO): Starting July 1
- Tulum (TQO): Starting July 2
- Miami (MIA): Starting July 4
Tickets are now available via Volaris’ official sales platforms. Introductory fares begin at USD 79 plus taxes for Miami and Tulum routes, and USD 89 plus taxes for Orlando.
Ronny Rodríguez, Volaris’ Director of Corporate Development, highlighted the importance of these routes in strengthening regional air connectivity. He noted that the new flights not only expand travel options but also promote economic and cultural ties across Central America, Mexico, and the United States.
Miami and Orlando routes cater to strong demand from Costa Rican travelers, favored for leisure, shopping, and business trips. Meanwhile, the new Tulum connection is a strategic first for Volaris Costa Rica, making it the sole airline offering direct service between San José and Tulum. This route is expected to boost tourism to the Mexican Caribbean and support the development of the new Tulum airport.
These additions complement Volaris Costa Rica’s existing network from San José, which already includes nonstop flights to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancún, Guatemala City, and Los Angeles.
