EasyJet Adds Belgrade and Ljubljana Routes This Winter

by Grace

Low-cost airline easyJet has announced the launch of two new routes connecting key European cities, expanding its network in Southeastern Europe during the upcoming winter season.

Starting October 27, easyJet will introduce a twice-weekly service between Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Belgrade. Flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays, placing the carrier in direct competition with Air Serbia, which currently dominates this route. This new connection marks easyJet’s second destination from the Serbian capital, following its existing Geneva service.

The Paris-Belgrade corridor has seen steady demand in recent years. In 2023, Air Serbia carried 193,500 passengers between the two capitals, with an average cabin load factor of 83.3%. Additionally, Wizz Air continues to operate flights between Belgrade and Paris Beauvais Airport—located approximately 80 kilometers from central Paris—serving 88,903 travelers last year with a robust average load factor of 90.2%.

Notably, this will be the first time in over two years that more than one airline offers direct service between Belgrade and Charles de Gaulle. Air France suspended its seasonal operations on the route in 2022, and a planned entry by Transavia France earlier this year was canceled before takeoff.

Meanwhile, easyJet will also inaugurate a new route between Manchester and Ljubljana on November 4, with flights running twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This service will fill a notable gap in direct connectivity, as there are currently no other airlines operating on this route.

Manchester will become easyJet’s second destination from the Slovenian capital, complementing its existing London Gatwick service. The route was last served on a seasonal basis by the now-defunct Adria Airways in 2019. In its final full summer of operations in 2018, Adria carried 2,651 passengers between Ljubljana and Manchester, averaging a 70.9% load factor.

The new routes are expected to enhance travel options for both leisure and business passengers, while also increasing competitiveness in the region’s air travel market.
