Sun Phu Quoc Airlines to Launch in Late 2025 with A320s

Vietnamese start-up Sun Phu Quoc Airlines has secured a business license for air transport operations from the Ministry of Construction and plans to begin flying in the last quarter of 2025. The announcement was made via a Facebook post by Sun Group, a major real estate and hospitality company promoting the airline.

According to the post, the airline will operate narrow-body aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, including the A320, A321, and the A321neo models.

Looking ahead, Sun Group revealed ongoing discussions with Boeing regarding potential aircraft purchases, though specific details such as the number of planes or the progress of talks remain undisclosed. When initially unveiling Sun Phu Quoc Airlines, the company expressed ambitions to grow its fleet to 31 aircraft by 2030.

Operating out of Phu Quoc as its main hub, Sun Phu Quoc Airlines aims to connect the island with major Vietnamese cities like Hanoi (Noi Bai International), Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The airline also plans to serve key international routes to countries including South Korea, Japan, and China. Further expansion targets untapped markets in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia, the Facebook post added.

Sun Group has already made an equity injection of VND 1 trillion (approximately USD 38.3 million) to launch the carrier. The total investment in the airline is projected at VND 2.5 trillion (around USD 95.8 million), though it is unclear whether Sun Group will fully finance this amount or seek additional investors.
