EasyJet cabin crew in Spain are set to strike on June 25, 26, and 27, following a call to action from the USO union. The walkout will impact the airline’s bases in four major Spanish cities, including Palma, Mallorca, with expected delays and possible flight cancellations.
The strike aims to improve working conditions and wages for cabin crew members, who the USO says currently earn “around minimum wage.” According to USO spokesperson Pier Luigi Copello, this results in a salary gap of 30% to 200% compared to cabin crews in other European countries.
Union officials argue that EasyJet’s pay scale is “far removed from the country’s socioeconomic reality,” citing the rising cost of living in Mallorca in recent years as a key concern.
The planned strike will involve more than 650 cabin crew members and affect 21 aircraft. In addition to Palma, crew members in Barcelona, Alicante, and Málaga will also participate in the industrial action.
