Vietnam Airlines has formalized a strategic partnership with global technology leader FPT through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aiming to accelerate the airline’s comprehensive digital transformation, enhance operational efficiency, and elevate customer experience.
The collaboration will focus on jointly designing and deploying a wide range of advanced technology solutions, including Generative AI, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and enterprise-grade digital platforms. These innovations are expected to optimize Vietnam Airlines’ operations and transform the passenger journey across multiple touchpoints.
As part of this initiative, Vietnam Airlines is launching a next-generation e-commerce platform. This platform represents a critical milestone in the airline’s digitalization journey, promising to deliver a more personalized and intelligent customer experience, while expanding service offerings and boosting ancillary revenue.
The partnership includes implementing AI-powered solutions for customer engagement, content automation, and personalization. It also encompasses the development of a Customer Data Platform (CDP), chatbots, voicebots, and comprehensive CRM and ERP systems, alongside internal self-service portals and mobile e-commerce applications. Flexible and scalable cloud infrastructure and data centers will support these evolving business needs.
Both Vietnam Airlines and FPT will co-invest in development projects, jointly own intellectual property, and share revenues generated from new technology solutions designed for aviation operations. There is strong potential to scale these innovations across regional and global markets.
Beyond technological upgrades, the collaboration will enhance customer loyalty by integrating Vietnam Airlines’ mileage program with FPT’s ecosystem, enabling customers to redeem points across FPT’s education and retail networks.

Additionally, it supports Vietnam’s broader national goals outlined in Resolution No. 57, which emphasizes science, technology, and innovation as pillars of sustainable development.”

FPT Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Vu Anh Tu, outlined five key strategic initiatives underpinning the partnership: establishing an AI Innovation Lab, developing a technology platform for personalized customer experiences, modernizing cloud infrastructure, creating AI agents, and delivering AI training for Vietnam Airlines staff.
This partnership builds on a long history of cooperation between the two companies, dating back to the 1990s and formalized with a Strategic Partnership Agreement in 2013. Over the past three decades, FPT has been instrumental in supporting Vietnam Airlines’ IT systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and passenger services. Highlights include FPT’s role in organizing Vietnam Airlines’ internal Digital Transformation Days and hosting the 2023 IATA World Safety and Operations Conference, the first event of its kind held in Vietnam.
Through this collaboration, Vietnam Airlines reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development driven by innovation and supports the implementation of Vietnam’s Resolution No. 57, positioning science, technology, and innovation at the core of the country’s growth strategy.
FPT has established itself as a leading technology partner in the global aviation sector, serving over 100 clients including airlines, airports, cargo operators, and aircraft manufacturers across Europe, the U.S., and the Asia-Pacific region.
