China Lifts Ban on Boeing Jet Deliveries Amid Tariff Reduction Deal

by Grace

China has lifted its ban on the delivery of Boeing aircraft to domestic airlines, according to reports from U.S. media outlets. This development follows a recent agreement between the U.S. and China to temporarily reduce tariffs on each other’s products.

Earlier this year, Boeing revealed that several Chinese airlines had halted the acceptance of its planes due to the adverse effects of escalating tariffs between the two nations. The Chinese government later confirmed that the tariffs had caused significant financial strain for both Chinese airlines and Boeing.

On Tuesday, Bloomberg and other U.S. outlets reported that Chinese officials had informed domestic airlines and government agencies that they could once again begin accepting deliveries of Boeing jets.

The decision comes after a breakthrough in U.S.-China trade negotiations, with both sides agreeing to temporarily lower tariffs by 115 percentage points. Specifically, China will reduce the tariffs it imposed on U.S. imports from 125% to 10%.

In addition to this change, China has signaled that it may suspend or lift other retaliatory measures. The resumption of Boeing jet deliveries is seen as one such step in the ongoing trade de-escalation.

However, it remains uncertain whether Chinese airlines will immediately resume accepting Boeing aircraft. Ongoing trade talks between the U.S. and China continue to shape the evolving landscape of bilateral trade.
