Singapore Airlines Adds Flights to Christchurch

Christchurch Airport is set to deepen its connection with Asia as Singapore Airlines announces an additional 46 return flights for the upcoming summer season. This expansion responds to rising travel demand between New Zealand and key Asian destinations, while boosting options for both leisure and business travelers.

From November 24, 2025, to February 12, 2026, Singapore Airlines will increase its weekly return flights from three to four, operating 11 weekly services on the Christchurch–Singapore route. This translates to 23,000 extra seats and an additional 5,500 seats per week, enhancing accessibility for international visitors and local travelers.

The increased frequency is expected to significantly support the South Island’s economy, particularly in tourism and exports. Singapore Airlines will also boost its cargo capacity by 64 tonnes, facilitating smoother trade flows for New Zealand exporters.

Singapore Airlines has maintained a strong partnership with Christchurch Airport for nearly four decades. Since launching the first weekly flight in 1986, the carrier has expanded services steadily and now operates daily flights using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering both passenger and cargo services.

Justin Watson, CEO of Christchurch Airport, highlighted the importance of this long-standing partnership in strengthening the region’s global connectivity. The added flights are a strategic move to align Christchurch more closely with Singapore’s role as a major travel hub for Asia and Europe.

This expansion not only reflects growing optimism following the pandemic but also signals confidence in Christchurch as a vital gateway for tourism, business, and trade. Singapore Airlines’ broader network enhancements further cement its role in linking New Zealand with Asia, providing significant benefits to both travelers and exporters.

As the summer season approaches, the enhanced Christchurch–Singapore route promises to deliver greater convenience, economic growth, and stronger ties between New Zealand and Asia.
