Ryanair, EasyJet Extend Israel Flight Suspensions Amid Tensions

by Grace

Ryanair has extended its suspension of flights to Israel until June 4, citing ongoing regional instability stemming from continued attacks launched from Yemen. The Irish low-cost carrier confirmed the move after passengers began receiving flight cancellation notices over the past several days.

The airline had only recently resumed operations to Israel in early April, offering flights at highly competitive prices. However, the renewed security concerns have prompted another halt in services, affecting customers who had already booked travel for May.

British budget airline EasyJet also announced it is extending its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv through the end of June. The carrier had been set to restart operations in early June after a prolonged hiatus but has since begun notifying affected passengers of their options, including full refunds or rebooking on alternative routes.

Prior to this official announcement, EasyJet had quietly removed June flights from its website and app, effectively blocking new reservations. Customers soon reported receiving cancellation emails confirming the suspension.

EasyJet had initially suspended its Israel operations in April 2024 following an Iranian drone strike. In January 2025, the airline expressed intentions to resume flights in June. However, rising regional tensions led to further delays. In August, EasyJet extended its suspension through March 2025.

The extended cancellations place EasyJet and Ryanair among a growing list of international airlines suspending flights to Israel. On Wednesday, Air Canada announced it would not resume service to the country until September.

Some carriers, however, are reassessing their strategies. Lufthansa Group is reportedly considering the reintroduction of limited morning flights to Israel, while Air France remains cautious. In contrast, Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air plans to resume operations on Friday, becoming one of the few international airlines returning to the Israeli market in the near term.

The decisions come as global airlines continue to weigh security concerns against operational demand in the region.
